Whiteout

Having confidence is key. I, like most young adults, am not that confident in myself. I'm not always confident in the way I look, the way I feel, or when I talk. Wearing this outfit took a lot of confidence, especially these boots. I have been wanting over-the-knee boots for almost a year now and I finally snagged a pair on sale toward the end of the summer. This was my first time wearing them and I love the outfit combination. I don't love that I feel uncomfortable or scared to wear what I want because most students on campus wear sweatpants and t- shirts. You don't see people dressed up all the time. Even students in my major wear leggings and sweatshirts to class everyday. That is another topic for another day, but location helps with my confidence. I would be comfortable wearing this outfit in a more creative atmosphere.

Well now that I got all my feelings out, I really do love this outfit. I like the chicness of the envelope skirt and the warmth from the sweater. I like the simple necklace that ties it all together. Over-the-knee boots are hard to style, but I can't wait to wear them this winter.

Denim on Demim

I remember reading a book by Clinton Kelly a few summers ago called Oh No She Didn't. He hilariously explained trends/fads/styles women wear or have worn in the past that he completely disagrees with. One in particular that I can remember is Denim on Denim. Since this book was written in 2010, I don't know his current opinion on the trend, but I have come to love it.

For my outfit, I wore a pair of boyfriend jeans that are comfortable and practical. I paired it with this awesome denim shirt I thrifted while hanging out with my cousin. I love the raw hem line and the little pocket towards the bottom of the shirt. For accessories, I wore a DIY choker necklace and my newest obsessions: Adidas shoes.

One tip to keep in mind when wearing denim on denim is to contrast the washes of the denim. For instance, my top is a lighter blue than my jeans. This contrast gives the outfit depth.
